About

Hi my name is Filzah. I’m a third generation Javanese residing in Singapore. This is a blog to curate recipes that I am learning from my mother, relatives, friends and the internet. Campak literally means ‘Toss’ or ‘Throw’ in Malay language. In my culture, we always say that experienced cooks need only campak or toss in ingredients according to their intuition without following the book or using measuring cups. It’s something I aspire to achieve over time with the help of my mother. The recipes are written in my mother tongue and the english translations can be found in most of them (I’ll make it a habit to include them at the bottom of the page from now on).

Formal education (aka school) is over for me, and I’m excited to start learning and start cooking again!

Feel free to comment, suggest and recommend. Thank you.
